How To Pet A Hellhound In Call Of Duty: MW3 Zombies – You Can Pet The Dog Achievement Guide

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is live with a new large-scale Zombies experience, featuring many familiar enemy types from old Zombies games. One little Easter egg allows you to pet the hellhounds in the mode and doing so will score you an achievement. Here we’ll guide you through the steps to unlock the You Can Pet The Dog achievement for Modern Warfare 3.

Get the zombie flesh

In order to pet the hounds, you’ll first need to blow up some zombies. You can use grenades, RPGs, or breacher drones, but one of the best methods is to use a LT53 Kazimir grenade. Other explosives are more commonly looted, but the LT53 Kazimir seems to always drop the Chunk of Flesh item you’ll need. Blow up a horde of zombies or toss the LT53 Kazimir grenade at a zombie, until a dead zombie drops the “Chunk of Flesh” item.

Now that you’ve acquired the zombie meat, you’ll need to find a dog to feed.

Find a hellhound

These undead pups can be located in dog houses found randomly around the map. You won’t need to go far to find one, as these can be found in the outskirts (low-threat level) of the map. Just search POIs until a dog house icon appears on your minimap. I’ve found these by riding through places like Sorokin Industrial, Souk Nuri, and just off the highway of the Seaport District POI. An example of the dog house icon can be found in the screenshot below.

You’ll want to clear out all the nearby zombies before approaching the dog house. Then, interact with the dog house. It will have inventory spaces like a backpack, so you can transfer the Chunk of Flesh item into the dog house.

Once you back out of the dog house’s inventory, the house should explode and spawn a hellhound. This is a good doggo, and you can interact with them (X/A) to give them a pet. Doing so will also unlock Modern Warfare 3’s You Can Pet The Dog achievement. Everyone in your party should be able to pet the dog, but sometimes the dog gets bugged and won’t sit still for everyone to interact.
