Live-Action One Piece Trailer Sets Sail For Weird, Wild Adventures For Netflix



Based on the highest-selling manga series from Japan in history by Eiichiro Oda, One Piece tells the story of young wannabe pirate Monkey D. Luffy, and his rag-tag crew as they search for the ultimate treasure. Luffy sets off from his small village on a fantastic voyage to become King of the Pirates, but first, he’ll have to survive dangerous rivals at every corner of the vast ocean.

The anime based on the manga has reached over 1,000 episodes, making it one of the longest-running animated series ever. The first trailer shows classic characters outside of Luffy’s crew including Buggy the Star Clown and a monstrous Sea King as they race down the Grand Line, the perilous ocean route.

One Piece stars Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji. Additional cast includes Vincent Regan, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, Morgan Davies, Aidan Scott, Langley Kirkwood, Jeff Ward, Celeste Loots, Alexander Maniatis, McKinley Belcher III, Craig Fairbrass, Steven Ward, Chioma Umeala.

The show is helmed and written by Matt Owens and Steven Maeda while One Piece creator and artist Eiichiro Oda along with Marty Adelstein, and Becky Clements are executive producers.

Netflix’s One Piece arrives August 31.
