As to be expected, a new Call of Duty game means a fresh grind for XP and weapon progression, and Modern Warfare 3 will offer a few ways to level up fast. A new Call of Duty blog post details all the challenges you can expect at launch, including new armory unlocks to help you unlock attachments faster. Here’s everything you need to know about challenges and leveling up in Modern Warfare 3.
Daily, weekly, and career challenges
You’ll have a few challenge types to help you progress through the ranks in Modern Warfare 3. These are split into dailies, weekly, and career challenges.
Daily challenges
Daily challenges give you a set of challenges to complete every 24 hours, and these are similar to what Call of Duty has offered in the past, with a simple set of three challenges that reset on a fixed schedule. These will be available in multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone.
Career challenges
Career challenges offer bigger milestones to complete for XP and calling card rewards. These challenges will include multiplayer and Zombies milestones, such as getting a specific amount of kills, wins, and eliminations with specific weapons and equipment types.
Weekly challenges
Weekly challenges will be available every week during the pre-season and during each full season after. Starting with the launch of Modern Warfare 3, there will be seven multiplayer and seven Zombies weekly challenges available every week.
Every weekly challenge awards XP on completion. Completing five weekly challenges for any given week grants an unlock for a special attachment, which will be an aftermarket part or a weapon as a weekly reward. If you earn all weekly rewards in a season, you’ll unlock a seasonal cosmetic reward such as a new camo.
Armory unlock challenges
Armory unlock challenges serve as Call of Duty’s new system to let you unlock the weapons, equipment, perks, killstreaks, and attachments that you want to use the most. When you reach level 25, you’ll unlock access to the armory unlock challenge system and begin to progress and complete challenges, unlocking new items. These challenges are completed by completing daily challenges. Each daily you complete earns you a point against your active armory unlock challenge.
There are a variety of items you can earn through these challenges, which you can view in the armory unlocks challenge menu. This includes many attachments otherwise locked behind the lengthy grind of weapon progression, giving you a faster way to unlock all the customization options for the Gunsmith.
