Call Of Duty 2024 Will Feature Old Multiplayer Maps, Too – Report

What’s old is new again might be the mantra for the Call of Duty franchise going forward. A recent report states that next year’s entry in the popular FPS franchise will feature old multiplayer maps from the series–which follows the upcoming Modern Warfare 3 bringing back all of the maps from 2009’s Modern Warfare 2.

Insider-Gaming noted a now-deleted post from CoD_Perseus on Twitter/X highlighted that WMD from Black Ops and Grind from Black Ops 2 will show up in Call of Duty 2024. Insider-Gaming added that sources say more maps from previous Black Ops games are in development for the game, too, which is developed by Treyarch. It’s unknown if the unannounced game will only offer remade maps at launch, though, without new ones.

Modern Warfare 3 will offer 16 remastered maps from 2009’s Modern Warfare 2 when it releases on November 10. So Call of Duty 2024 could be the second game in the series to heavily rely on old maps for a new game. Insider-Gaming added this strategy helps cut down on development time for the annual franchise.

This isn’t the first leak about Call of Duty 2024, either. Last year, a report suggested the game will be about the Iraq War, as well as possibly depicting the Battle of Mogadishu (dramatized in Black Hawk Down). The first images from Call of Duty 2024 also supposedly leaked in July 2022 from files found in Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile.

Earlier this month, Activision confirmed that the Call of Duty franchise had been mapped out through 2027. However, those plans might change after Microsoft finally acquired Activision Blizzard and now oversees the FPS series.
