Paddington 3, which is officially titled Paddington in Peru, now has a release date–but it’s not soon. Sony Pictures has announced that the movie will debut on January 17, 2025 in the US. The movie debuts earlier in the UK, arriving there on November 8, 2024.
Paddington in Peru tells the story Paddington bear returning to Peru to see his aunt Lucy, who is now living in the Home for Retired Bears. Paddington goes to Peru with the Brown family and a “thrilling adventure ensues.”
Rachel Zegler (West Side Story) was supposed to join the cast, but had to drop out due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, according to Variety.
Paddington in Peru is directed by Dougal Wilson, who previously directed AT&T and Apple commercials. The screenplay was written by Mark Burton, Jon Foster, and James Lamong, with a story. by Paul King, Simon Farnaby, and Mark Burton.
The Paddington series is based on the book series by author Michael Bond, and Harry Potter veteran David Heyman is a producer.
Paddington in Peru features Ben Whishaw as Paddington bear and Imelda Staunton as aunt Lucy. The cast also includes Hugh Bonneville, Emily Mortimer (replacing Sally Hawkins), Antonio Banderas, Olivia Colman, Julie Walters, Madeleine Harris, Samuel Joslin, Jim Broadbent, and Carla Tous.
The original Paddington came to theaters in 2014, with the sequel Paddington 2 arriving in 2017. Together, the movies have made more than $500 million worldwide.
